Automotive seating customer
A seating customer approached us for help with a major issue that was not only causing assembly problems, but issues with the end customers of a range of premium 4×4 vehicles.
Upon further inspection, we discovered a particular component was being welded to a cross tube prior to painting, which was a fundamental flaw in the overall design.
As a consequence, the cross tube was being filled with paint. Over time, this resulted in the paint ‘bleeding’ and ultimately staining the carpets and wider interior of the vehicles.
We were tasked with engineering a feature that would enable the paint to drain from the tube, while also maintaining its structural strength and commercial viability.
